GBC Rules & Regulations

Safety and Responsibility
Members, visitors, and spectators are solely responsible for their own safety and the safety of their guests attending the club.

 

Footwear
Only shoes with non-marking soles are allowed. The use of shoes that mark the surfaces is strictly prohibited. GBC is not responsible if members bring the wrong type of shoes and are subsequently advised they cannot play.

 

Court Reservation
Name tags must be placed on the Court Reservation Board at an available time slot according to the assigned color name tag in order to play. You may not move your name tag before you have finished playing. Do not move other people's tags without their permission.

 

Equipment
Bring a new shuttlecock with you each time you come to the court.

 

Court Etiquette

  1. Leave your court promptly when time is up for rotation. Exit by the back court line to ensure safety.

  2. Share your expertise with less experienced players.

  3. Allow more experienced players the opportunity to challenge each other. Be mindful of the games you join.

  4. Maintain a positive attitude regardless of the outcome or your performance.

  5. Call lines fairly, keep score correctly, and state the score clearly after each rally.

  6. Shake hands after each match.

  7. Be courteous to other players at all times.

  8. Do not walk behind or beside a court when the shuttle is in play.

 

Prohibited Behavior
Foul language, fighting, inappropriate gestures, or intimidation are prohibited. Members who commit such offenses will be warned and expelled after a second incident, without exception.

 

Membership
GBC reviews all membership registrations and reserves the right to reject any person from becoming or renewing a membership to the club.

 

Fees

  • Adult membership: $100 per year

  • Children under 18: $75 per year

  • Guest fee: $5 per day per person
    The club reserves the right to refuse guest players based on gym occupancy.

 

Name Tags

  1. Members receive one name tag at the start of a new membership.

  2. Replacement name tags cost $5.

  3. Only name tags issued by GBC are accepted.

  4. Every player must have a GBC-issued name tag.

 

Donations
All donations will be used for court maintenance, supplies, GBC activities, and future tournament expenses.

 

Skill Level Classification
Color-coded name tags represent skill levels:

  • Green: Beginners

  • Yellow: Beginner-Intermediate

  • Orange: Intermediate-Advanced

  • Red: Advanced

Tags are assigned based on technical skill, match IQ, footwork, etc. To discuss upgrades, please consult John, Mayuresh, or Michel.

 

Clean-up
In the last 15 minutes of the play session, the last persons to leave must ensure all equipment is put away and that broken shuttles, feathers, and water bottles are discarded in trash cans.
